Backup data on to CDs/DVDs

Note: on newer versions of Linux you should be able to Drag and Drop Files to the CD or DVD and burn it within Linux without additional software.
  • For Linux use k3b [pdf]
  • For Windows 2k use Roxio [pdf]
  • For Windows XP
    • To Burn CD's do the following
      1. Drag and drop to CD drive icon or double click on the drive icon, drag and drop files to the window
      2. Then the left top side click on 'Write these files to CD'
      3. Then follow the step-by-step instructions.
    • To burn DVDs use Roxio [pdf]
  • For Mac
    1. Insert black CD or DVD and a pop-up should appear
    2. Select 'Open Finder' as a action and type in a CD name
    3. Then in the Finder open the CD on the left top side
    4. Drag and drop your data in the right center panel
    5. To start burning, right click if you have a two button mouse or left click while holding the control key, then click 'Burn Disc'
